I’m headed to Philadelphia later this week to attend the EduCon 2.3 conference. This will be my second trip to SLA, and I am every bit as excited to go back as I was to attend the first time. The main difference between this year and last is that I have decided to add my voice to the conversation as a presenter. I’m honored to be presenting amongst some of the great thinkers in our profession. I’m also humbled by the opportunity to learn along with many of them on a daily basis.

I will be facilitating a discussion around a topic that is very important to me, e-Books. More specifically, I hope to explore how, why and when e-Books should be included as part of the instructional process in the early elementary classroom with an eye towards developing an instructional model that could be used in Pre-K and Kindergarten classrooms across the globe.

I’m trying to find the simplest way to produce an audio only file from the Screenflow file of a Skype conference call. Right now, I grab the screencast, which is usually 2 tracks; Screen/computer audio and the audio only of my USB mic. From there, I level out the 2 audio tracks and export as a .mov file. I then open the .mov in Quicktime 7 and export SOUND to AIFF, which gives me an .aif file. Then I import the .aif into GarageBand and then export as a .m4a file.

This seems all convoluted…is there an easier way? In the end, I can’t even find where I can export to a .mp3 file. Your suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Why Raised Digital?

Today’s students were born digital but those responsible for their education were not. Youngsters arrive at school in tune with the social context and experience the Web offers. Children thrive when teachers find ways to educate them in a more flexible, hypertext manner. This space focuses on development of and support for teachers in their use of technology as they cultivate 21st century content knowledge and skills in their students.
