My dissertation research centers around using the Kindle as an assistive device for students with reading disabilities in a science classroom. Are you aware of quality ebook textbook sources? The students in the study also have language deficiencies and (I assume) will depend upon the definition/oronunciation tool.
I am not aware of any research on that topic. If I run across any, I’ll post it for you here. I’m just not sure that the Kindle, as is, will support in all those capacities. If it does, it will be somewhat challenging to find the type of eTexts that you are looking for. I haven’t seen much functionality out of a Kindle eBook beyond digital print, highlights and annotations. Keep me posted. Thanks!
